Super Bowl LVI - Operational Impacts
Due to the impacts of Super Bowl LVI Corsair Aviation will be temporarily dividing its operations between KWJF (Gen William J Fox Airfield) in Lancaster, CA and KVNY (Van Nuys Airport) in Van Nuys, CA from February 8, 2022 until February 15, 2022.
Background
Super Bowl LVI will be held at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on Sunday (February 13, 2022). The FAA and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) anticipate significant impact to the local airports in the LA area as well as the airspace within 70 miles of the stadium from Tuesday (February 8, 2022) to Tuesday (February 15, 2022). These impacts are likely to cause delays at KVNY with the possibility of ground holds being placed on VFR operations. IFR operations will be on a strict reservation system only. No practice pattern work or approaches during the above-mentioned dates and flight training operations are strongly discouraged within the LA area.

Due to the impacts of increased arrivals at KVNY for the Super Bowl, the Park VNY will be used to accommodate transient aircraft. Most aircraft currently based in tie downs will be repositioned to hangar rows within the Park VNY. Although LAWA has promised access to the taxiways at KVNY, they have warned that pilots should be prepared for extensive delays including up to 4 hours for departure and arrival. ATC may not allow VFR operations during peak air traffic demands. This is likely to occur both before and after the Super Bowl on Sunday. As a result, Corsair Aviation will be relocating the following aircraft to KWJF (Gen William J Fox Airfield) in Lancaster, CA – N508ND, N5216L, N6364J, N739AT and splitting operations between KWJF and KVNY. The following aircraft will remain at KVNY (Van Nuys Airport) in Van Nuys, CA – N618DH, N6050A, N30265, N163DD. Customers are welcome to book at either location from Feb 8-15, 2022. However, it is strongly recommended that customers consider relocating to KWJF during these dates. Corsair Aviation is not responsible for any delays experienced.

Corsair Aviation will have a temporary office located on the north side of MH Aviation, Inc. (4555 William J Barnes Ave, Lancaster, CA 93536) as depicted in the map below. Primary access to the ramp area will be via a pedestrian gate located on the south side of MH Aviation, Inc. This location will be staffed during operations. Normal operations will resume February 15, 2022. All aircraft will be relocated back to KVNY on the morning of February 15, 2022. During the Super Bowl week of (Feb 8-15, 2022) the main office at Corsair Aviation will be open and staffed during normal business hours 9AM to 6PM. Dispatch will be available by phone at (818-906-4024) and email (corsairaviation@outlook.com). Customers are welcome to book reservations at KVNY during the above affected dates, however customers should expect extensive delays. Corsair Aviation is not responsible for any delays experienced.
