PRIVATE PILOT
Private Pilot (Part 61)
The Private Pilot Certificate is the entry level pilot license from the FAA. This license is for individuals who plan to fly for their personal business and/or pleasure, but not engage in work for compensation or hire. With your Private Pilot Certificate you are permitted to take family, friends, and co-workers on board your own aircraft or the aircraft you are renting while acting as Pilot in Command.

Eligibility Requirements

Be at least 17 years of age

Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language

Obtain at least an FAA Third Class Medical Certificate

Pass an FAA Knowledge Test (Written)

Pass an FAA Practical Test (Oral and Flight)
Aeronautical Experience

FAA required 40 hours total time

Must Include:

Minimum 20 hours instruction
-
3 hours cross-country training
-
3 hours night training
-
3 hours instrument training
-
3 hours of checkride prep
-

Minimum 10 hours solo
-
5 hours solo cross-country
-
1 solo cross-country of at least 150NM with three landings
